Paul S. Hardersen, Ph.D. Dr. Hardersen has a wide-range of experience in travel, start-up business, scientific research, and college-level teaching. Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Dr. Hardersen honorably served in the U.S. Navy, earned undergraduate degrees at Iowa State University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was awarded a university-wide professional/graduate teaching award in 2013 by the University of North Dakota and was also honored by having an asteroid named after him (8140 Hardersen) by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). He is a currently a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) with The Travel Institute and has travel agency accreditation through CCRA. He also successfully completed a crowdfunding accelerator program in 2019 conducted by Newchip. He is currently active in the Startup Tucson business community and is focusing his efforts on developing Naked Pirate Travels into a disruptive, differentiable, and successful travel business. His interests include sailing, marine science, history, travel, his fabulous kids, cooking/baking, tropical islands, and helping people to live their dreams.
Sarah Nolan, M.PH. Ms. Nolan was born in the United Kingdom and lived in both New Zealand and Australia before coming to the United States. She earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in public health from Griffith University. She has experience in the non-profit sector serving veterans’ families in Australia, women’s health centers, and participated in the UN Peace Operations Training Institute. She also has a Graduate Certificate from Macquarie University in international security.
Rebecca Simon, Ph.D. Dr. Rebecca Simon, a Los Angeles native, has a Ph.D. in the history of 18th-century piracy from King’s College London. Her first book, Why We Love Pirates: The Hunt for Captain Kidd and How He Changed Piracy Forever was published in 2020 and is currently working on two book projects about the female pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read and life on the pirate ship. Her article, “The Revenge of Anne [Bonny] and Mary [Read]” published by Truly*Adventurous, was optioned by ABC studios. Rebecca has been featured on Netflix’s docu-drama The Lost Pirate Kingdom, History Channel’s Beyond Oak Island and The Curse of Oak Island, and BBC4’s Britain’s Outlaws: Highwaymen, Pirates, and Rogues. You can find her discussing her research on piracy on podcasts such as History Extra, History Hit, You’re Dead to Me, and Getting Curious With Jonathan Van Ness among others. In addition to her historical work, Rebecca has several years of experience as a film-location/history tour guide with Brit Movie Tours in London. Her other interests include traveling, classical singing, piano, weight training, and her pug, Pippin.
Stephanie Jaworski. Ms. Jaworski has experience hosting local and regional group travel events in New York City and the Upstate New York region. In particular, she has extensive experience organizing travel for the Skating Club of New York. She also has business experience in owning her own fashion company and serves as a Travel Host for trips and events in the Northeast U.S.
Therese Perreault, MBA. Ms. Perreault serves as a Travel Host for our Maine coastal small group travel experience. She has experience hosting small groups overseas and in the U.S. She earned an MBA at Simmons College in Boston, MA, and has experience in travel, marketing, photography, and community organizations.
